We had a wonderful three-day stay at your hotel around the New Year's Eve. We were very impressed with the restoration work that you have done. It is a very charming place to stay. We also want to mention Unal. He was a great host. He was very friendly, enthusiastic, always smiling and giving great tips about Cappadocia. Starting the day with a warm chat with Unal (and with the delicious breakfast!) gave us joy and happiness throughout the day. It is a pity that we could not meet you as you were in Germany. But we will definitely come back and we hope to meet you next time. All the best, Ersin and Valerie

Fairy Chimney Inn julesB2007 boston 5 of 5 stars Dec 27, 2007 New 1/1 found this review helpful I found this Inn by chance in late September 07 and stayed there for one week...I fell in love with the Inn, the owners & family, the location and the village of Göreme - so much so that I returned 7 weeks later and stayed for another 2 weeks in November! The inn is beautiful, charming and everything one would want. Gülcan and her brother ünal are beautiful and loving hosts and will make you feel instantly at home and comfortable. They have amazing rooms and the hotel is just fantastic to explore and enjoy. The town of Göreme is charming and the perfect place to explore the rest of Kapadokya. I've seen a lot of other places to stay in Göreme and talked with other travelers and by far I would recommend this inn for it's beauty, comfort, charm and the wonderful hosts. Many of the guests I met while staying there both times were repeat visitors...some have visited many times - I can understand this! I will be back again and again...it's truly a wonderful inn located in a magical land :-) * This TripAdvisor Member: o Liked — the beauty of the inn, the hosts, the location, the landscape surrounding the inn o Disliked — that I had to leave!!! maybe the hike up the hill but you get used to that after one day ;-) This review is the subjective opinion of a TripAdvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC. julesB2007's Summary Date of Stay: November, 2007 Traveled with: Solo traveler Visit was for: Hobbies / interest / culture Age group: 25-34 * My ratings for this hotel are: o 5 of 5 stars Value o 5 of 5 stars Rooms o 5 of 5 stars Location o 5 of 5 stars Cleanliness o 5 of 5 stars Check in / front desk o 5 of 5 stars Service o 5 of 5 stars Business service Would I recommend this hotel to my best friend? absolutely! We did a tour in Turkye for 2 weeks and this was the best place where we stopped. Fairy chimney Inn is defenitly the best place to be when you want to vizit Cappadocie. Also it is located a bit higher than the other hotels and the view is magnificent. We are so glad we stayed here, that probably we go back in the winter time. Really clean, neat, cosy and lovely decorated room. Just go there and have a look for yourself, you won't regret it a second.

.... This fairy chimney high on the Göreme hill has been converted into a comfortable hotel by it's owner, a German anthropologist who has ensured that his conversion is a respectful tranquil retreat on the village's highest point and can rightly claim to to have the best views in the village. Rooms are relatively simple, featuring (red oxyd dyed) concrete floors covered in a profusion of rugs, lovely bathrooms and comfortable beds aborned with bright textiles. Added extras are a fully functioning hamam in a cave, communal lounge, home-cooked meals and glorious garden terrace. (see Lonely Planet, 2007 p. 505) ...

Comment / Kommentar: our little, but quite unique cave-hamam is only working on order, as it has to be heated up around 24 hours before possible sessions.

Tipp!

Want to stay right in one of Cappadocia's striking "fairy chimneys?" You can, at Andus Emge and Gülcan Yücedogan-Emge's Fairy Chimney Inn in Göreme. Born and raised in Germany, Andus Emge came to Cappadocia to study cave architecture and village life and its recent changes in Göreme, fell in love with the country—and Gülcan Hanim —and decided to stay. Their small, quiet pension is a refuge from the tourism world, high on a hillside in Göreme, with fine views and some of the most interesting cave rooms around. The large suite even has its own circular stone door weighing several tons. It's the sort of place in which you really feel yourself back among the Cappadocian troglodytes of centuries ago. Andus and Gülcan sometimes host small scholarly conferences under the aegis of the Cappadocia Academy, and welcome particularly those interested in the study of Turkey and its historical, social and cultural riches.

Comment / Kommentar: Tom Brosnahan's Turkey Travel Planner is probably the best and most accurate internet source if you wish to prepare for a holiday in Turkey. Check it out: www.turkeytravelplanner.com

I've travelled the world a lot but never found anywhere quite like the Fairy Chimney Inn. A magical place of atmosphere and wonderful hospitality. - Happy the traveller who finds fairies like Gulcan & Andus

Comment / Kommentar: Ex 'Monty Phython' Michael Palin and film director John Paul Davidson came with a film crew from the BBC in January 2007 for shooting an episode for the new travel series, 'Michael Palin's New Europe' over here in our Fairy Chimney Guesthouse and in Cappadocia

This place is magic!

This place it’s magic. This hotel was the best highlight of our 3 weeks vacation allover Turkey. We stayed for 3 nights in the Byzantine apartment. You should not miss it, it’s a little bit more expensive, but you will remember it all your life as one of the best places you have ever been. It’s huge, beautifully decorated, comfortable and fascinating. The care of the details, the surrounding landscape and the welcoming and warm atmosphere was unique. It’s not like staying in a hotel, but it’s like spending a vacation in a friend home. Gulcan was a fantastic guest. She prepared wonderful meals and was always available for any questions or request. We hope one day we will come back.
